Hey Al-

That's a fun fireroad. Be aware the trail on the south side of Bouquet Canyon road is illegal. At the north end it's closed for fire rehab (last I was up there) at San Francisquito.

Still worth the ride, though, it'll be fun. I wish I could join you. :ride:

Nice GS Mark. I rode this area a few weeks ago. There are single track offshoots everywhere that are a lot of fun. I rode in 6N09 off spunky canyon road to 6N04. Went up to San Francisquito then back down to Bouquet on 6N04. I'll post tomorrow night whether I can make it. Right now it's looking pretty good that I will be able to. What time are you thinking of meeting?

No worries. We'll stick to the fire roads. My vote is to meet between 8:00 and 8:30. I'll check the site later for final times. Just in case my phone number is 818.934.2251. See you tomorrow am.

It's pretty clean for a 1995. Never got my shakedown ride.
I will see how the ride up to the market goes and decide
then if I will hit the fire road or not.
I vote for 9am.

Hi Mark!

About six weeks ago I was climbing a short, steep, loose trail section next to a gully. Lost traction and tipped over into gully at 0 mph. Fell about 4 feet into gully and spiked the v-shaped bottom of the gully. My foot was about 45 deg. off-center, and without thinking I twisted it back in line. Lots of crunchy-grindy. I knew immediately; it was really bad.

Luckily I was with 4 other guys and they had to carry me to a clearing. One went to get his truck and took me to ER in town. Getting the boot off with no meds was, um, eye-opening. They didn't have anything that would cut off the boot all the way, so they had to pull it off.

Turns out it was a spiral break of the tibia with complete separation. Also broke the fibula, and the only thing holding my foot on was soft tissue. It was close, but fortunately the bone did not come through the skin.

So the next day after a six hour surgery, I get a 14" titanium rod right down the middle of my tibia and four screws to hold it in. I'm a member of the hardware club! On crutches and cam boot since then. Seeing the ortho surgeon in 8 days. PT starts 2 days after, will last 8 weeks. Tibia won't be fully healed for 4 months.

-I won't ever ride alone again...

Wow Roger.. That's a really tough injury to recover from. Hope you heal up quick.

Mark, Great looking bike. That would be fun on long sight seeing rides. Congrats!

I was out camping locally this weekend with the family otherwise I would have joined you guys for a ride. Next time! "Duane" :ride:
