I knew with Cal guiding us through the desert it would be a blast! :-o Thanks for the pics as well. Why do hills never look as steep or loose in pics as they do in real life?

It was my pleasure to again ride with Calvin, Duane, Wes and Matt. Everyone rode exceptionally well, despite Duane’s efforts to do us in, twice, in the “free-rideâ€

I had a great time roaming around the desert with you guys too. When it cools off a little, we will need to hit it again. I'd be more than happy to lead you around aimlessly but I can't guarantee no surprizes! Roger ~ you sure that was your first time to the porn shack? (JK) :)

What a blast! .....or as my nephew would say. That ride was "SICK"!

Thanks for the pics Calvin. :ride:

Hey Roger
Sounds like you guys had a great ride. Wish we could of hook up with you guys at that point but Dave had to be back by 12:00. I see you got your fork seal fixed, that oil slick on the last ride was way too easy to follow.
Calvin Thanks for the picture those sugar hills looks like fun.

Okay here's the story.
After I left Calvin, Wes, and Duane to head down Lake Hughes Rd, my rear tire picked up a box staple and went flat - like two miles down from Warm Springs. There I was on a hot, flat shoulder trying to change my tire, getting the thing off and on alone was a hassle, and for the life of me I couldn't get the last bead back on the rim. I was destroying the bead trying. There was zero cell phone service. Finally, after about an hour and a half of tears and sweat a fireman ranger pulls up and offers to C.B. triple A for me. He got through and said the ETA for my tow to castaic was gonna be 25 minutes so I said hell with it, I'll just take the tow. Well after about another hour and a half wait, triple A never shows. I felt ruined. I decided to stash my bike down this crappy side-of-the-road area where I had to break bushes and move small boulders to get my bike out of road view. I really did not want to leave my bike, but it was getting dark and I was totally out of water and getting quite thirsty. I hitchhiked a ride with a Mexican family (music and all) down to Castaic. There I was able to call my brother and he came out with my flatbed and we went up and the bike was there and all was well. By this time it was around 10:00 at night. What a day.
However, the pine trees growing out of the sand dunes and the demon-worship porn shack made it all worth it. That was a sweeeeet desert ride. Turns out I did destroy the tire bead trying to get it back on the rim and my rear tire is now at TRE (a motorcycle shop in Simi) getting a new D606 put on.

Geez Matt,

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like it all started right after you left us. Roger must have been ahead of you... Bummer. :banghead:

Hope you will be back..... :ride:

Holy Crap Matt- What a cluster #@!%. I was not aware that anyone was following me! After I said goodbye at Papas and said I was going to do the connector-road thing, I saw you all turn off at the Warm Springs gate. I'm so sorry if I stranded you!!!!

Don't even consider it-I was stranded by fate only. Me and the other guys talked for second or two at the warm springs trailhead, they wanted more dirt, I wanted a liesurely ride home. I saw you wave and go ahead down Lake Hughes. I was about 5 min behind you. Little did I know that I was to be confronted by confusion and debauchery.

Matt,

At least you had the tire kit with you this time.

Did you forget to include something in your tire kit or did you just need another pair of hands? Do you think another tire iron would have helped?
