SNOWY TRAIL next Sat SEPT 29th

Postby jonnyNITRO » Sun Sep 23, 2012 2:37 pm

I am heading up to Gorman next Sat to ride the infamous Snowy trail.
Who's up for the challenge?

I hear the beginning of the trail is hard but the rest is easy. Guess I'll find out next week.

I'll figure out where the entrance is and post a time and meeting place.

I rode Snowy last year after it had been closed for awhile. I think it's open but to be sure I would call the Mt Pinos rangers (661-245-3731) or maybe the State office at Hungry Valley. I have to work next Sat anyway. Good luck with the ride, it's a nasty one. Bring extra water!

The plan is to meet at Gorman at 8:00 am Saturday.

South entrance, first parking spot on the right (under the big oak tree). Bring your gear and lots of fluids. Cameras and Go Pros are encouraged.

See ya then.

Yeah...what he said !!!! ^^^^^

Saw some footage on YouTube...1st gear only!!! Looks more like a hiking trail than a motorcycle single-track. True uphill switchbacks...have to try a 1/2 donut while pointing uphill with a boulder right in the way...and...if you wanted to turn around, probably 100x harder going down!!! Going up you can lean into the hill...going down you wouldn't always have that option...white-knuckler!

I lean more toward fire-roads/desert where I can get some use out of the 400cc's...

I'm not going to make the Sat. Snowy ride. Warning though do not ride Snowy Trail solo. I've ridin this trail about 40 times and it's not safe riding it solo especially for your first time anything could happen out there and when your solo you will be screwed.
