Overnight Ride This Weekend 4/21

Postby mark_hochman » Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:32 pm

Shahin and I are planning to do an overnight (motel if possible) ride up the coast to the Big Sur area. Mostly street but some dirt. Maybe through the Carrizo Plain, Pozo and up.
The route is still in flux... :-
It will be a long day of riding on both days.

Any route ideas are welcome

Might want to check to see if the Pozo pass is open first Mark.
I've been threatening to do the same on the GS...

Just called the Santa Lucia Ranger District ((805) 925-9538) and East Pozo Road is open between 58 and Pozo. I was told it's pretty rough. Hi Mountain Road is open and parts were recently graded; and Hi Mnt Campground is now open.

Wish you were doing this next weekend!! I'm up in Atascadero this weekend and planning an overnight camping trip to Selby in Carrizo.

Sorry Robert, my wife is going to visit her dad this weekend so it’s a perfect excuse for me to get away :ride:

Can't make this one but the following weekend there is a campout at Carrizo Plain Selby campground.

Come join this one if you can make it.

I will be heading out on the Friday before.

Sounds like fun. Wish I had a way to get my KTM out there.

Alex;

I plan to overnight at Selby this coming weekend too (Sat/Sun only). What is this campout you write of, and may I join in? Thanks!!

698 miles of green grass and high tides...
Great weekend! Our home base for the weekend was in Atascadero at the home of a great couple Larry and Joyce, longtime friends of Robert. What great hosts, great food, great wine and great friends made this weekend one I wont forget.
The weather was perfect, Saturday we rode some great dirt off Nacimiento-Fergusson Road starting from Coast Ridge Trail. We made some great discoveries resulting from my great navigational skills :banghead: . Sunday we headed home via Hwy 58 to Pozo road to dirt Pozo and back to hwy 58, through the Carrizo Plain with lunch at The Place in Ventucopa. From there we headed down the 33 east on hwy 150 and home on the 126.

Here are some pictures...

Hey! Dont piss on the UXBs!!!

Glad you guys had a good trip, and though we drove up there, we still managed to be a part of it!! The Rabs were delighted to meet you and make a new friend.

Shahin told me that East Pozo Road was smooth and re-graded...I'm tempted to put a new rear tire on the GS and head back up there next weekend! :ride:

With Hi Mountain Road re-graded recently as well, maybe we should camp up at the campground Saturday night

Dang! Looks beautiful out there Mark.
Can you post the route you took from home and back?
Maybe use Google maps?
I'd really like to get out of the house for a while...
