Frazier Mountain Ride Sat 8/11

Postby Ronnie » Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:36 am

Any of you guys up for a ride next Saturday morning? Was thinking of Hungry Valley (tejon trails) up to Frazier Mountain, then out to Lockwood Valley and back to Hungry Valley; About a 3 hour- 35 mile loop. Its gonna be hot so I'd like to start around 0800-0830.

I'm game.

Do you want to meet at the first campground or do you enter the upper entrance?

Blazing hot by 11am...

Think I'd like to be ON THE TRAIL at like 6:30-7am so I can be OFF THE TRAIL BY NOON. The 48t rear only lets the Dizzer cruise about 50mph so it takes me pretty much an hour just to get to the Gorman entrance, another hour to get home, 3-4hrs of riding in the middle, 107 degrees out....???

On second thought...think I'll just take the Harley to Ventura and chill...you guys have a nice sauna !

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know.... I'm a big pussy!

You guys are right, its gonna be a hot one. Looks like 90's up there in the Frazier area. We can start earlier if you like but if we hit the trail by 0830 we'll be done by 1130 or 1200 at the latest and it should be pretty nice when we get into the trees. personally, I like to enter from the Gorman side and avoid the long nasty road I park in the first staging area on the left which is called Edison and its also the closest to the trail entrance. Stazi, Ventura will be nice but will leave you nothing to talk about. Come on the ride and you can brag about the views, the terrain, how you roosted the guy behind you and how good that cold beer was when you got back to the truck!

Nothing to talk about...true, its a purely visual thing.

You guys can tell me about the trees, roost, trails, sweat in your eyes, dust, dust, some more dust and oh yeah, you'll probably run across some dry, hot DUST... I'll post some pic's of the bikini bottoms and whatnot...

I think the Dizzer's gonna love me for skipping this one too!

We usually enter on the south side, park in the first campground (Lane Ranch) and ride up to the trial from there. Head over to Alamo Mtn. , we can take Gold Trail up and over and anything else on the way back.
Tejon Trail is wooped-out so bad I try to avoid it all together.

It's up to you. Just throwing out some 2¢.

8:00 am sounds good to me.

100 degrees... that's not hot.

Well, I woke up this morning with a puddle of oil underneath my bike. It appears to be the seal behind the countershaft sprocket, and possibly the sleeve too. Have to order these parts now and hope they come in by the end of the month.
So, I guess I WON'T be riding this weekend.

Sorry.

Alright then, I guess we'll wait till we get some cooler temps. Good luck with that project. It sounds like something I'd have to pay a mechanic to do.

Ok, next week we are supposed to have a bit of a cool down. Please keep Saturday the 25th in mind for a Hungry Valley meet and ride up the Frazier trails. We can see how it looks as we get closer but this may be the best opportunity in awhile
