MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND RIDE

Postby jonnyNITRO » Tue May 24, 2011 11:03 am

I am planning to ride this Saturday. (28th)
Just not sure where to go yet.
I'm leaning toward the newly opened Station fire areas. Has anybody been out there yet?
Here's the list of open trails.

I've never ridden up there so it would be an exploration to see some of it, but I'm open to other ideas too. I just want to get out and ride.

I just checked with a source I have and I've been told that none of those trails, in fact none of that part of ANF (burn area), is open to motor vehicles. Those are all hiking'biking trails.

WHAT !

:banghead:

Well, maybe I'll go up to Hungry Valley. Are any of the trails like Tejon Trial and Miller Jeep trail open?

Hey Nitro - I was up at HV on Friday and met exactly 0 folks on the trail... weather was absolutely amazing too, the planets were truly aligned for a banner day like that!

Anyway, I saw that Tejon Trail, Arrastra Trail (sp?) and Gold Hill Trail were still locked up.

I can't imagine they'll be like that too much longer though.

Visiting relatives this weekend or I'd join 'ya.

Happy Memorial Day all!!

I'm just wondering if Monday wouldn't be a better day to ride.

Any thoughts ?? :excuseme:

I'd be up for a Saturday ride. I'd like to think the FS has been waiting until this weekend to open all the gates. Or maybe I'm too optimistic.

Is there a number I can call? I'd like to see them open upper trails of Gorman for this weekend.

I just called and they told me that Alamo and Frazier will be open this weekend. I don't know if that means the smaller trails too. She didn't know either. Maybe I'll call them back on Friday.

I'd like to ride with you guys. Can we stage at the parking lot next to the main Gorman entrance? No pit riders there and its quick & easy, plus good security. Is 8:00 ok or do you like earlier/later?

That sounds like an idea. The usual meeting place is a race track on the weekends--right, John/Eric?

I could be there at 9:00 Saturday.

I don't know about the racetrack meeting place. Eric and I usually meet at the first campground. Don't you have to pay to get in to the racetrack, or do you park outside?

I'm still leaning toward Monday instead... :excuseme:

I can't make it on Monday. Already made plans (w/some friends at the golf course) for that day.

I was just joking about the pit riders running laps in the campgrounds. Remember the guy with the old 2-stroke last year?
