YIKES !!!

Sherman Trail looks like its out of my league...in that pic, it has 3 guys pushing their bikes !!! I prefer gentlemen trails that can be ridden. I don't even want to know if I can get my 362lb bike over 300yds of jagged boulders on a 12% incline ??? (Actually, I already know the answer to that question)

You guys have a good one and keep'er safe !!!

That trail does not have to be taken, we just chose to take it......then we went down Cannell trail to Big Meadows. The one that was really bad was Siretta Peak trail (that doesnt have to be taken either)
Dont stay home cause of those trails the majority of the trails up there are fine. If you have never been up there you really need to go and see the beauty.

If enough people go, we can brake up into 2 groups.
The riding is amazing. We average about 60 miles of single track/day. (It helps you sleep at night)

I'll be bringing the fire pit. I should have enough wood for both nights, but if anybody's got some oak, bring it. I got a grill to go on the pit, so pack your grub accordingly.

The plan is to go up Friday afternoon/evening get settled in and ride all day Sat. Wake up, see who has enough energy to do a little riding on Sunday and then pack it up and head for home.

There is NO cellphone coverage up there and you will be out of contact with the rest of your world until we get off the mountain Sunday afternoon.

It has dropped down into the low 30s at night so pack warm and it's around 85 during the day (If it's 100 in Mojave). Camp sites have bathrooms and running water. Each parking spot is $20 for the weekend and it's always busy this time of year.

The trails are a combination of woods/tree dodging, hill climbs, down hills, rocks, boulders, grassy meadows, stream crossings, tight single track and wide open double track (rare as it is). It is both challenging and rewarding for the riders that venture up there. It's a ride you're soon not to forget and with so many trails, you'll never ride them all in one weekend.

Oh, and one other thing... 9 mile canyon is a very steep hill (driving). Make sure your brakes are in good condition. There is a gas station near the junction of 9 mile and the highway395 . Gas up, eat (Subway inside), make any last phone calls before you head up the mountain. It's an hour drive from that gas station to the campgrounds.

PM me if you have any other questions. :professor:

Somebody has recorded a bunch of videos up there.

At Pearsonville you'll find a Shell gas station. Fill up there, eat and make any last calls before you head up the mountain. The entrance is about a 1/2 mile further.
The climb up to KM is steep, as I said before, but one thing I forgot to mention is that you need to make sure your brakes are good. The trip down can smoke 'em and you don't want to loose your stopping power going down that hill. Bring lots of water with you, and some extra fuel.
You may find that your bike runs a little rich at that altitude, so plan on swapping jets before you get up there (or at least bring some tools to do so). The elevation is from 7000 - 8500 ft.

I saw a few groups up there yesterday and the weather was perfect. Doesn't seem to be crowded on the trials, but every weekend is a different story.

Falcon - I may have to get a ride with Fubar so I may not be driving at all this trip. Let us know what you are planning to do. I haven't heard from you and when you can go.

MichaelXR - what are your plans to get up there? Maybe you and Falcon can hook-up to truckpool.

Due to mechanical reasons, I can't take my truck this weekend. I'm throwing my gear into Terry's truck instead. Keep on your buddies and I'm sure they have some room for ya.
Terry is bringing his Bar-b-Que so that takes up a bunch of room, otherwise we could load in your bike too. If all else fails, do it solo and meet us at the Pearsonville station around 3:15 - 3:30pm.
