Big Bear Test Run and Ride Report

Postby mark_hochman » Mon May 21, 2007 8:42 am

The plan is to do an overnighter the weekend of June 2nd. We were thinking of heading up towards Big Bear. The route is still being worked out (any ideas or recommendations) . Let us know if you are interested. We will be leaving early Saturday morning and returning Late in the afternoon on Sunday. The plan is to do the campground thing...

Hi Mike, I have plans for this weekend. You and Shahin should hook up. Shahin, we are still planning the route. Starting in Castaic, over to Acton up to the I think it is 3N17 over to the 2 as far as we can on fire roads to Big Bear.

If you guys are going out this Saturday, I would like to join you if that is OK. By the way Shahin, is that a Lebanese name? The reason I ask is my last name is Shaheen (which as you probably know means Falcon).

The plan is to meet and start from the Starbucks at 8:30am Saturday the 16th. I plan on having breakfast at the Castaic Cafe on Castaic road (same road as Starbucks) but south of Lake Hughes Road. Should be there around 7:30 or so. I'm going to bring some freeze dried food for dinner Saturday. But if we are near a burger joint, that would be my first choice. Second would be to pick something up from the market to take back to camp. Last choice freeze dried something...

OK Guys, I have received permission from the "Gate Keeper" after answering the question, "What is your favorite color?" (Blue).

I will be happy to pack the stove. This is a Jetboil so it's for boiling water only. So it's freeze dried dinner, coffee, tea, etc. I'll have enough fuel for everyone. I'll also bring the large water bag for camp use.

Mark - if you could bring the water filter, that'd be great.

If anyone can think of camp items that can be shared, let us know. That'll save packing space for everyone!

Looking forward to our adventure!
