Hi Roger, it was a great :ride: . I think my total miles were 475, somehow for a short period my odometer got changed to -miles instead of add :banghead:. Not sure :excuseme: I think the highest point would be around 7000ft. I'm sure Calvin would have that info.

Hey Calvin, Eric, Shahin, Bill if you want to post a picture from the slide show here and put a caption, use this format,
Click on Img from the toolbar above, then add the line

http://www.castaicdualsportriders.com/s ... 0_2301.jpg

changing the 100_2301.jpg to the picture you want to display and last click Img again then place caption or you can place the caption before the first Img click.

Do you think the pictures should be sized to 800 x 600 so that the picture would stay framed better?
Also should it be a slide show or just a row ow thumbnails on the bottom and you click one to place a larger image above the thumbnails?

We took a little break once we climbed up out of Tehachapi.

I think this was the first of some awesome single tracks that Calvin had mapped out for us

Just before we reached the downhill into Lake Isabella Eric picked up a thorn

Fixing that flat on the trail was WAY COOL! I now feel like an accomplished ADVrider.
Image
I think this is the first flat we have ever had on a ride.

My favorite part of day 1 was climbing this little switch-backy dirt road out of Caliente up to the main road through the Piutes.

Lots of twists and turns

And some cool tree cover

Searching out some single track

Found it!!!

Finding this little single track took some effort. We had countdowns smts route 6-3a through the Piutes but the problem was these Garmin GPS tracks in the smts routes don

And the ride continues...
Calvin checking his GPS after dinner at a great cafe we eat at in Bodfish

The Campsite at the Kern River north of Kernville. Not the place to stay if you want a good night's sleep. Drinking, partying, screaming, and finally Eric went to sleep
Thats Bill warming himself by his cool little candle light

The single track trail below was the Cannell trail. We made it up the trail about three miles and stopped just short of the steep switch back section. It would have been another six miles on that trail to the top of the ridge. Just not the right trail for packing camping gear, so we bailed and rode on up to Johnsondale to get on with the MAIN EVENT.

We then entered the Piutes on a really high grade and low maintained fire road. After some very crazy switchbacks on the road we stopped and some of us borrowed some water from a secluded cabin we ran into in the middle of nowhere.
Image

After some more fire road we searched out some single track.this was some good piute style fun.
