Sawmill Ride

Postby jonnyNITRO » Mon Mar 22, 2010 12:00 pm

Took a cruise up to Sawmill (5,500 ft), Burnt Peak (which was really burnt), and over to Liebre Mtn. this Saturday. No one really around until later in the day. Great weather. While it was 80 degrees at my house, up on the mountain it was only 65.
Took some shots as I went along. Found some sweet single track up there until I realized it was the Pacific Coast Trail (No Motorcycles!) :banghead:

Selfish hikers have all the great trails up here.
Anyway, still had fun.

Nice tree cover at the campgrounds

Trees down here and there, but nothing to worry about.

A few snow patches still around
RockyHill.jpg
Rocky hillclimb to nowhere. Still fun climb though.
more to come...

...darn 6 picture limit.

MeadowTop.jpg
Some scattered meadows on top of the mountain.
Found a forgotten trail at the end of my ride. And from the looks of it, it has been some since anyone had ridden on it. Nasty ruts in the hills too, with loose gravel (decomposed granite) on top, so it was real slick. A bigger bike would have been nice for those hill climbs. I chickened out since I was alone and couldn't find another way out if I got stuck down in the hole.

The forgotten trail.
EndOfTheRoad.jpg
End of the line. A little too rough to try it alone.
RoadBack.jpg
Felt like I was in the mountains of Colorado.
That was it.
I'm going again and next time I want to get all the way to Pyramid Lake.
